EFFECTIVE: MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2010
Due to changes in the starting and ending times at our
elementary school buildings, students will be scheduled to be picked up 5
minutes earlier in the morning and dropped off 5 minutes later in the
afternoon. Please have your students at their bus stop 5 minutes earlier in
the morning starting after winter break.
There will be no time changes on mid-day Kindergarten and Young 5 bus
routes.
Please feel free to contact your student’s bus driver or the transportation
office should you have any questions.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this change may cause your family.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this
transition period.
Legislative Action & Services to Your Child
Dear Parent/Guardians:
Legislative action regarding school funding that will directly affect your
child is currently occurring in Lansing. I strongly encourage you to be
aware of action your legislative representatives are taking. Decisions made
this week at our state capitol will affect services and programming offered
to all students in the Portage Public Schools and across the State of
Michigan .
On the Michigan PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) homepage, up-to-date
information regarding legislative happenings, as well as resources on how to
contact your legislators are listed. I would encourage you to visit the link
below and contact your representatives this week to give them input on
school funding issues. The Michigan PTA website is:
http://michiganpta.org/
Thank you for the time you may give to this critical issue.
