Board of Education



The Portage Public School District has accepted applications for the current vacant position on the Board of Education.  An individual will be appointed to fill the vacant position until the November 5, 2014 election.

Interested persons submitted a completed application expressing interest in the Board position to the Administration Building, 8107 Mustang Drive, by Monday, December 23, 2013.  To be eligible, a person must be a registered voter in the school District, at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the U.S., a resident of the state of Michigan for at least 30 days, and a resident of the school District.

Timeline for filling vacancy



December 9, 2013                Notice of vacancy announced.

Noon, December 23, 2013      Deadline for submitting applications.

December 30, 2013                Board meets to review applications.  Board decides to         interview all 7 candidates on January 6th.   

January 6, 2014                    Board meets to conduct interviews of selected candidates and make appointment.

January 13, 2014                    Organizational Meeting of the Board of Education at CHS.
