Angling Road Elementary School serves 434 students from Young Fives to Fifth grade. The building not only houses the regular education program for students, but also special education programs caring for the needs of students. The educational needs of the students at Angling Road Elementary School are cared for by a total of 46 full-time and part-time faculty and staff, which includes 26 teachers, a principal, and appropriate clerical and custodial support staff. Angling Road students are also served by a full-time reading consultant, a full-time media consultant, two special education teachers and a half-time guidance counselor. All of these services are available to students to meet their individual needs and to assure that their participation in the instructional program is maximized.

Curriculum
The Houghton Mifflin Legacy of Literacy based series along with children's literature and non-fiction selections comprise our integrated language arts program. This program includes anthologies, phonics, spelling, and writing, along with connections to social studies, science, and technology. We continue to implement "hands-on" science at Angling Road in order to meet the needs of our students in the area of science education. Our math curriculum implements "hands on" learning with emphasis on alignment with the National Teachers of Mathematics Standards. We utilize the University of Chicago Everyday Math Program in kindergarten through fifth grade. Teachers use a variety of instructional techniques such as: team teaching, thematic-integrated instruction, cooperative learning and process writing in order to provide our students with an exemplary educational program.

Enrichment Program
The Personal Enrichment Program (PEP) is transitioning to Enrichment and Extension (e2) program. For details visit their site at www.ppsgt.portage.site.eboard.com or contact the school office.

Site Based Management
Angling Road uses a site based management organizational method. Staff and parents make up our Site-Based Team. Goals have included increased communication, studying student enrichment, implementing an earlier spring parent/teacher conference to ensure time for any necessary interventions before the school year's end, increased used of technology and integration in the curriculum, new design for the parking lot and bus traffic to maximize student safety, and building focus to maintain a respectful and safe environment for optimal learning to occur. We continuously strive to base decisions on the best interest of all students and seek ways to continue to have Angling Road Elementary School be the best elementary school and school community!
