Description
MVHS classes are designed for credit recovery for students enrolled on a regular basis in a day school program. MVHS Flex Program course standards meet the Michigan Curriculum Framework Standards and Benchmarks. These self-paced courses offer flexibility and have a Michigan certified teacher guiding students through the courses. On-line Instructors set guidelines for completing assignments, encourage students, monitor their progress, grade their coursework and are always available for questions and guidance. Students should plan on spending 10-20 hours a week in the course in order to complete all course work in time.

MVHS offers 110 courses during summer school. The following courses are aligned with the Michigan Merit Curriculum. For more class listings and class descriptions go to: www.mivhs.org

Success
To be successful in an online class, a student must be self motivated with a strong sense of direction and the ability to set goals and follow through. A successful online student can work independently, stay on task and maintain a regular schedule of logging on and keeping up with readings, course assignments, homework and other expectations.

Credit
Students who complete and pass a MVHS Student Direct course will earn a “credit” (CR) on their high school transcript rather than a letter grade. Each successfully completed course will earn a student ½ credit. Credit is awarded at the end of each session, and a copy of the credit earned is sent to the student’s high school counselor’s office.
