PALS

Pals (Peer Assisted Leadership) is a class of selected students among the student body of Portage Community High School; to qualify the students must be committed to academic success and have excellent attendance. The students in the class are also selected based on their leadership skills and their self-motivation. The class promotes student leadership, self-awareness, and a way for the students to reach out to the school and the community.

Pals are responsible for numerous fundraising projects to pay for the Prom, the Winter Dance, and helping people in need.

The PALS also are in a partnership with Park Place Assisted Living Center where the students volunteer numerous hours, including planning the "senior prom."

Other activities the PALS are involved with include: School beautification projects, the annual food drive, the pet food drive, planning spirit week, working with the Child Care, working with the ESL program and peer mentoring the middle schoolers.

The main job of the PALS is teambuilding and mediations.
