English Club--"Hiya,
If you are looking for a new, smashing, unique, and fun school club. Look no
more. Join the first ever English club at Portage Central. No reading or
writing involved. Speak with a British accent, learn the U.K. slang, play
cricket, drink tea, listen to their music, and a whole lot more. The first
meeting will be held today after school in Mrs. Moore's room. If you have
questions of what we're about talk to Mrs. Moore or Taylor Edwards for more

Band Reminder--Concert
& Symphonic Band students all meet at 11:30 for a combined rehearsal today!
Attention Students--Please
shed your loose or extra change into the tennis ball containers labeled
"March of Dimes" in your various classes. This spare change adds up quickly,
and goes toward research intended to prevent premature birth and birth
defects.
Peace Jam--Meeting
today after school in Ms. Hazen's room, Waylee 5. Join our work to make a
change in our world! We are organizing plans for our fund raiser (look for
peace jam jars and donate!) and to learn about Nobel Peace Prize winner
Betty Williams and the work she did in Northern Ireland.
Science Competition--Would
you like to learn how to fly a radio controlled plane or helicopter?
The first Radio Controlled ground-school will be held Thursday after school
in room 314. We will compete in February. Also…Portage Central
students will be involved in engineering contests with radio controlled
flight, radio controlled car conversion and competition, balsa wood bridge
building and underwater vehicle competitions this year. If you would
like to be involved please attend the meeting Friday in room 314 after
school.
Bonjour French Club--We
are having breakfast and playing Verb Games this Friday morning before
school in room 2033. This is
open for all levels of French.

Rotary Club Members--Rotary
members are needed to work at the Festival of Trees this weekend. There are
2 hour shifts available all day Saturday and Sunday. Email or stop down to
Mr. Rayle’s room to sign up.
Yearbook Sales--Yearbooks
are still on sale! Check the list outside Hoffman’s room to see if you have
already purchased one. Sales will be going on during Parent teacher
conferences today and tomorrow night for your convenience…Also the 2009
Spring supplements have just arrived! Yes, they are finally here! So if you
ordered one last year please come to Hoffman’s room, 300, and pick your copy
up today.
Photo Club--We're
meeting this Thursday to share favorite photos.
Bring 10 of your favorite photos on a
flash drive, CD or print them out.
We'd like to see what you have
and get ideas on what we might make from them.
Bring your photos and ideas to room 313
after school Thursday.
Hey Portage Central--Just
a quick reminder about Breadlift team sign-ups…. each team can have up to
four participants PLUS one driver! Please fill out the sign-up sheet with
all names on it, and then turn these into the manila folder outside of Mr.
Sutherland’s room or the front office by the end of today.
Choir Concert--PC
Choir students will present a “Broadway Cabaret” featuring outstanding music
from Broadway shows this weekend on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and
Sunday at 2 p.m. The performances will be held at the Epic Theatre in the
Epic Centre, Downtown Kalamazoo, on the corner of S. Burdick and Lovell St. and include gourmet dessert and
beverage. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and can be
reserved by seeing Mrs. Hunter in Central Middle School room 46, calling
323-5333 or by e-mail at
chunter@portageps.org. Last year’s
first annual event was sold out so get your tickets soon!

for you seniors: Don’t forget to pick up your Remynse Scholarship
applications asap...deadline is Dec 1, and sign up for a transcript to be
sent as well.
Attention
juniors and seniors: A rep from

University will be here
Nov 24 for a short presentation….come down to the counseling office and sign
up. AND, be sure to check out the PCHS website’s Counseling link….lots
of information on there from scholarships to camps to testing dates for the
ACT, and more. New info is being added all the time, so be sure to
check it out!
From the Athletic Office--The
Mustang Volleyball team did it again! They defeated Rockford last night 3 out of 4 games in the
quarter-finals. They now advance to the semi-finals at the Kellogg Arena on
Thursday at 7:15 p.m. taking on Livonia Churchill. We’re so proud! Go
Blue and Gold!!
