Involved parents play a major role in student achievement
Students whose parents are actively involved in their education or schools do much better academically, according to University of New Hampshire research on more than 10,000 U.S. eighth-graders. Parent involvement has as much effect on student achievement as would schools spending an additional $1,000 per child, according to researcher Karen Smith Conway. Concord Monitor (N.H.)/Associated Press

The ABC's of Success
Code of conduct PowerPoint

As a part of our Grade Level Welcome meetings, we have a complete Code-of-Conduct presentation/conversation in the Little Theatre for every grade at the beginning of the school year. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the rules/regulations and common practices observed at North Middle School and within the Portage Public School District. These meetings provide clarification for students regarding behavior and consequences, as well as provide them with the background for policies to foster a better understanding. We encourage our parent community to view this information as well as read our monthly parent communication and daily announcements to stay up to date on any clarifications or current reinforcing messages so that you can discuss the information with your child(ren). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school and we’d be happy to assist.
