Involved parents play a major role in student achievement
Students whose parents are actively involved in their education or schools do much better academically, according to University of New Hampshire research on more than 10,000 U.S. eighth-graders. Parent involvement has as much effect on student achievement as would schools spending an additional $1,000 per child, according to researcher Karen Smith Conway. Concord Monitor (N.H.)/Associated Press
