Portage Northern High School is proud to be among the U.S. high schools authorized to offer the highly respected International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. This challenging two-year curriculum for juniors and seniors emphasizes globalism and fosters interdisciplinary learning.

The International Baccalaureate is a nationally and internationally respected two-year comprehensive program for grades 11 and 12 encouraging critical thinking, research skills and service as a part of the learning process.

There are no prerequisites for participation in the IB Program, although motivation, energy, the ability to articulate one’s thoughts verbally and in writing,  open-mindedness, the desire for a global perspective, and a willingness to cooperate with others will be of great benefit to IB candidates. However, it is highly recommended that students take honors level courses in 9th and 10th grade.
