"We DONUT know what we would do without subs like you!"

This sentiment was what greeted substitute teachers at Portage Central High School Monday morning when they arrived for a day of teaching. This was all thanks to the efforts of the students.

Sam Bodine, a PC senior, organized a Sub Appreciation Week at his high school to show his gratitude for those who step up to keep the learning going when teachers are absent. Sam and a team of other students created posters to decorate the school, made thank you cards and even offered donuts to substitutes arriving to school Monday morning.

"The goal is to give our substitutes the appreciation and visibility they deserve," Sam said. The project was part of Sam's service for the National Honor Society.
