He started as a student in the Portage Northern High School woodshop. After graduating, he's returned to the very same classroom in a new role.
Robert Haworth, a 2025 graduate of PNHS, is now working as the technical assistant in the high school's Engineering in Wood Technology class.
Haworth thanked his PNHS teachers for preparing him for this career at Professional Development ahead of the start of the 2025-26 school year.
"If it weren't for all of you, I wouldn't be up here," he said to an auditorium of his former teachers and now colleagues. "If it weren't for my Woodshop teacher Mr. Wykrent showing me my love for woodworking, I wouldn't have my job in here or be where I am right now."
Principal Tre Lowder said Haworth is the product of amazing teachers at PNHS.
"This is an example of the impact, the guidance, the leadership and the absolute care that we have for our students here at PNHS," Lowder said. "Our kids leave here work-ready, and here's an example. You should be proud."
