Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1, families who do not otherwise qualify for meal benefits will be charged for meals, pending finalization of a state budget in Lansing.
For the last two school years, PPS has taken advantage of the free Michigan School Meals funding from the State of Michigan. On Sept. 30, the funding for that program will expire and the status of the funding for the new fiscal year is not yet determined.
The price of meals beginning Oct. 1, will be as follows:
Elementary:
Breakfast: $1.50
Lunch: $2.75
Ala Carte Entrée: $2.75
Milk: $.60
Secondary:
Breakfast: $1.60
Lunch: $3.50
Premium Secondary Lunch (2Mato, So Deli, On the Go): $3.75
Ala Carte Entrée: $3.50 or $3.75
Families who believe they would qualify for Federal Free & Reduced Price Meals are encouraged to apply today! The application only takes a few minutes to complete, and your information will be kept safe and confidential.
Meals will be free for those students who qualify for Reduced-Price meals as the District will cover the remaining cost from our Food Service Fund Balance.
