Between now and April 17, all elementary students can enter the Happy Birthday America Card Contest, sponsored by the City of Portage and Portage Public Schools. Go to your school’s office to request a blank card. Create a unique design and return it to your school by April 17, 2026. Artwork may include drawings, paintings, collage, or mixed media. An inside message is optional but encouraged. Please include the student’s name, grade, and school.
The cards will be judged by six Portage City Council members. Entries will be judged on creativity, effort, interpretation of the theme, and overall presentation. Six prizes will be awarded, and the winners will be recognized at a City Council meeting. Prizes include a U.S. flag flown over the U.S. Capitol or the Michigan State Capitol Building, along with a certificate of authenticity. Additional prizes will be awarded to runners-up.
