Ms. Prater is a retired teacher from PPS who came back to sub and enjoys the flexibility of her schedule. "A favorite part of subbing for me is choosing when I want to work and having the time to enjoy my family," she said.

As part of their English Language Arts lessons, 8th grade students at Portage West Middle School were prompted to create their own essays, poems, books, songs, etc. after reading "Watership Down." They showed off their work to their peers and teachers this week.

Also, the Administration Building will be closed Friday, March 22, for Spring Friday.


The time has finally come to meet the author behind this year's CommuniTeen Read "Salt to the Sea."
Ruta Sepetys visited students at Portage Northern High School Monday to discuss her book, a historical fiction that tells the story of three refugees in 1945 as WWII draws to a close.

Congratulations to Portage West Middle School for winning the Science Olympiad Regional at WMU! Next up is the state championship on May 4th.

Of course we didn't forget about Pi Day! Thursday (3-14) students and staff celebrated Pi Day at Portage Central Middle by experiencing cross curricular lessons learning about Pi, reciting digits of Pi, sporting Pi tattoos and of course eating pie!

Woodland Wildcats are celebrating March is Reading Month with special visitors from the Portage Northern High Student Senate. The high schoolers spent time this week sharing stories to numerous classrooms to promote the love of reading to their younger peers.


Portage Northern High is one of multiple schools across PPS who are joining their students and their families in celebrating Ramadan, the month-long Islamic holiday.
Muslims celebrate the holiday by fasting, praying, reflecting on community and by breaking their daily fast with a family meal. Islam is the world's largest religion and follows the teachings of Muhammad.

Students in Forensics Science at Portage Central High worked alongside officers from the Michigan DNR to learn more about evidence collection. The students gathered samples of blood, tissue and hair from a deer carcass provided by the DNR as part of their classwork this week.
