Dear Parent/Caregiver,
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are conducting a survey in partnership with Studer Education to monitor our progress in creating a positive school experience for you and your child(ren). Your feedback is crucial in helping us identify areas for recognition and improvement.
The survey will ask you to select the school your child(ren) attends. Once you complete the survey for 1 school, you will have the option to provide feedback on another school, if you have a child at another school in the district. Providing feedback to each school should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. We encourage you to complete it in one sitting, as your responses will be saved once you click submit.
Take the Parent/Caregiver Survey
The survey is scheduled for 4/6/2026 through 4/24/2026.
To maintain confidentiality of the Parent/Caregiver Survey, our partners at Studer Education will be administering the survey, managing the data collection, and aggregating the data to provide results reports to leaders.
Thank you for your partnership,

The state's budget, including the funding for meals, was passed by the State Legislature last week and will be signed by the Governor.
We know that students learn better when they have a nutritious breakfast and lunch. Like you, we are relieved that the funding to continue meals for the entire school year is now available so all students can benefit.
If you took the time to fill out the Federal Meal Benefits Application, thank you. These applications trigger other funding sources for the District, so your efforts will have a positive impact.
Families who deposited money into their child's account and would like a refund are asked to please email Susan Livingston, Food Service Director, at slivingston@portageps.org. Please include your name, your child's name, the amount you'd like refunded and a mailing address for her to send a check. Please allow for up to 30 days for the refund to be processed, and do not dispute the charge on your card as that will delay the refund process.
Thank you for your patience these past few weeks.

The FULL 2025-26 School Year Calendar is now available. Please visit portageps.org/o/pps/page/school-year-calendar to view the entire calendar.

Thank you to the teachers, families, city leaders and community members who joined us last night to officially cut the ribbon at our brand new Portage Central Elementary School! We are beyond grateful to our community for their support.

As the District completes finishing touches on our brand new school, we have an important update for both existing and new families.
Due to the work of unpacking and organizing at the new school, our building secretaries will be housed in a temporary location to assist families with enrollment or other general questions. Our secretaries will be available to families:
Dates: Tuesday, August 12 - Friday, August 15
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Central Middle School 8305 S. Westnedge Avenue
Phone: 269-323-6100
Kindergarten class placements will be sent out later next week once all enrollments are completed.
We appreciate your patience as we work to prepare for the start of a new school year.
A partial calendar for the 2025-26 school year was approved by the Board of Education Monday, July 21.
A complete 2025-26 school year calendar is not yet available due to ongoing contract negotiations with the Portage Education Association. The partial calendar covers August and September, and the District will also follow the Kalamazoo RESA Common Calendar for major school holiday breaks.
A monthly District calendar will be established and affirmed by the Board until a complete school year calendar is approved between the Board and the PEA. You can view the School Year Calendar at portageps.org/o/pps/page/school-year-calendar.
