What a special day at Early Childhood! Today the teachers participated in bring your child/neice/nephew/grandchild to work day! It was a wonderful day for the families and the students to get an opportunity to meet their teacher's family. We are hopeful today sparked some interest in the future Early Childhood potential careers later in life like their family! There were family member ID Badges, certificates and lots of enjoyment and fun! -Ms. French

This week’s Early Childhood Spotlight shines on one of our Three-Year-Old Preschool classrooms here at Early Childhood! Students thoroughly enjoyed a special in-house visit from Patch the Therapy Dog, learning how therapy dogs support our social-emotional well-being. Dramatic play continues to be a favorite, as students express their creativity in the kitchen area—working together to make all kinds of “delicious” meals. Our sensory bin is filled with new surprises each week, and yes… we might get a little wet with all the fun! Fine motor activities are also a popular choice, with students engaging in playdough creations and car play that spark imagination and creativity.
It’s a great week to be in Three-Year-Old Preschool!

This week’s spotlight in our Early Childhood Programming is one of our fabulous GSRP classrooms. The past few weeks have been such a rich learning experience! Several mystery readers joined the class, including special surprise visits from parents, caregivers, and even a local state trooper. Free choice time has been full of adventure, with new manipulatives and toys that encourage teamwork and help develop fine motor stacking skills. The current curriculum study is recycling, and the students have enjoyed using “reused” items to incorporate into their play. It’s always a great time to be in GSRP!

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are conducting a survey in partnership with Studer Education to monitor our progress in creating a positive school experience for you and your child(ren). Your feedback is crucial in helping us identify areas for recognition and improvement.

The survey will ask you to select the school your child(ren) attends. Once you complete the survey for 1 school, you will have the option to provide feedback on another school, if you have a child at another school in the district. Providing feedback to each school should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. We encourage you to complete it in one sitting, as your responses will be saved once you click submit.

Our next Early Childhood Spotlight this week is one of our wonderful GSRP Classrooms here! We are starting our Recylicing Unit and boy do we have a lot in store for us! We wrapped up our Mystery Readers surprising us with various stories to read together as a class. We also enjoyed a whole class scavenger hunt, lunch time with friends and our own creative artwork to enhance our fine motor skills. Its a great week to be in GSRP!

Our next Early Childhood Spotlight shines on our fabulous Transportation Department and the bus riders who come to school each day! Our friends in our GSRP classrooms love the opportunity to ride the bus to and from school, and we love that they get to have that experience.. Our drivers have become part of our Early Childhood family and take extra special care of our youngest learners. Each morning, they help with backpacks, hats, mittens, coats, bags (even the lost ones!), hair ties, and more—making sure every child’s transition from the bus to school is a smooth one.

School spirit is strong with the Class of 2040! Soon-to-be Kindergarten and Young-5 students and their families attended Registration Night on March 19th to meet their Principals, get questions answered and complete the steps to start school in the Fall. If you missed it, don't worry. You can get all the information you need to start the registration process by visiting portageps.org and clicking on the box that says "Enroll at PPS"!

It's time to enroll your 3-year-old in Preschool at PPS! Enrollment for the 2026-2027 is officially open.
