superintendent search at pps

The Board of Education will review candidates for a new superintendent at Portage Public Schools at a special meeting Wednesday, May 7.

At this meeting, the Board will meet in closed session as allowed under the Open Meetings Act to review the candidate applications. Following the closed session, the Board will -- in open session -- select and name the candidates to advance in the search process.

The first-round interviews are tentatively scheduled for May 14 and May 15. The interviews are open to the public and will be recorded and available online afterward.

A final set of interviews are tentatively scheduled for May 28. The next superintendent is expected to start in the role on July 1.

The search began in January after longtime superintendent Mark Bielang announced his retirement after more than a decade at the helm at PPS.
