collage photos of huskies with elementary students for March is Reading Month

In celebration of March is Reading Month, Portage Northern Senators traded their usual routines for a special mission: visiting some of the elementary schools to share the joy of reading with younger students. Classrooms were filled with energy as Huskies stepped into the role of mentors, reading aloud, leading discussions, and sparking excitement around books.

These visits created meaningful connections across grade levels and we are honored to be able to nurture relationships with our Future Huskies. Elementary students were not only entertained, but inspired - seeing firsthand that reading remains an important and enjoyable part of life, even as they grow older.

At Portage Northern, we are #huskieforlife and this month, that spirit showed up in every page turned. It was a chance to give back, build leadership skills, and well as the impact small acts can have on others in your community. Whether sharing a beloved childhood favorite or introducing a new adventure, each reader helped make literacy come alive. It was a rewarding experience for all.

Be sure to check out the video to see what our Huskies have been reading during March is Reading Month as well as photo collages below of our Huskies in the classrooms! THANK YOU to the Portage Northern Student Senate and the staff at Amberly, Angling Road, Haverhill and Woodland for sharing these pictures!
