One Choice: Protecting Futures (an Opioid education series)

Becky Savage, author of #OneChoice, nurse educator, national speaker, and co-founder of the 525 Foundation will be visiting Portage Public Schools March 9-11. She will be presenting to our districts 8th, 11th and 12th graders at various locations during the school day.

We would like to invite you to hear Becky speak on the evening of March 11 at 6:30 pm in our auditorium. This event is free and open to the community and includes a county-wide resource expo in the Commons. The resource expo will begin at 5:30 pm and features country-wide organizations, PPS students, and community partners as well as activities, give-aways, and treats.  Support will be available during and after all of our events for anyone who wants to talk, needs support, or wants more information.

PTO help with dinner for parent-teacher conferences...

The PTO likes to make the late evening better with food & drink for our amazing teachers. Please consider signing up to donate using this LINK.  Items can be brought to the Welcome Center / main office at your convenience beginning Monday, March 9, until Thursday March 12, anytime from 7 AM - 2 PM.  Or, consider a monetary donation by hitting this LINK.  Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Thank you for your support!

Thanks for coming to 8th Grade Family Night!

That was the best 8th Grade Family Night ever! Kids and families were engaged and asked great questions, folks hung around and visited with old and new friends – and you all even laughed at our bad jokes! I am so glad and grateful you all came!

There are a lot of important decisions to make in the next few weeks.  Hit this link right here to look at the program for the evening; it is full of information about each of our departments and classes that we offer. And hit this link to see the presentation again. The more you read now, the more you will be prepared for the important conversations ahead. We all want all our kids to start high school off well – so thanks for your thoughtfulness and your commitment to the success of our kids!

Save the dates!

Parent-teacher conferences are coming!

Tuesday and Thursday, March 10 and 12 from 3:30 to 7:15

And they are fully online through Google Meet, just as they were in the fall and last year. Watch for emails from your teachers, to get all the information you need to connect with all the teachers you need. And, colleagues here pulled together this step-by-step guide to show you how to connect with your daughter’s or son’s teachers.

Hoping all our kids have a restful and safe Mid-Winter Break,

Eric Alburtus
