March is Women's History Month and Portage West is acknowledging this special month in a few ways:

  1. We opened the month with a Women's History Month post on Minga where we encouraged staff and students to "post the name of a woman either in your life or someone you know of in the world that you are inspired by." Almost 200 Pioneers responded with posts about their Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, cousins, neighbors, best friends, educators, national and international women, and more! If you haven't yet, ask your Pioneer to scroll down to this post and check it out! Ask your Pioneer if they posted something!

  2. We are posting daily trivia questions about Women's History Month on Minga. Students are able to earn Minga points for their participation. We post the correct answer the following day on Minga as well as on our cafeteria slideshow that plays during breakfast and lunch. Here's a link to all the questions asked thus far.

  3. Mrs. Messing has created an amazing bulletin board outside of our library featuring several women that have made historical contributions to the world! Mrs. Kissinger and Mrs. Messenger also have a display in the library that students can see when they enter and engage in discussion about the different reading choices.

Be sure to ask your Pioneer if they answered any of the trivia questions, saw the quotes on the bulletin board, saw the display in the library, or any other questions about their daily experiences!

Happy Women's History Month!
