November is Native American Heritage Month and Portage Central High is highlighting influential Native Americans in our history.
The holiday was first declared in a U.S. state on the second Saturday in May 1916 by the governor of New York. In 1990, President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating the month of November as the annual time of reflection and celebration and the honoring of Native Americans.
