Do you know how to play cricket? PPS English Language Learners hosted their very own lesson on the bat-and-ball game that is most popular in South Asia.
The lessons were part of an afternoon showcase where students who attended the PPS ELL Summer Learning camps presented their projects -- and played a fun game of soccer. Other projects included clay making, 3D printing, map making and more!

Today, the cutest critters joined our elementary students in their final week of Summer Learning at PPS. From sheep and goats to baby bunnies and cock-a-doodling roosters, the animals enjoyed a field trip to meet new friends. Thanks to Critter Barn from Zeeland .

This summer, more than 100 PPS English Learners in Y5s through high school have been having a great time improving their English skills, building friendships and participating in project-based learning at our summer enrichment camps.
Great job , students!!

Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day. The holiday marks the true end of slavery in the U.S., because even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control.
As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later. Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas.
The historical legacy of Juneteenth shows the value of never giving up hope in uncertain times. Learn more at National Museum of African American History & Culture (https://nmaahc.si.edu/)

Mr. Hageman, music teacher at Haverhill Elementary, is spending his summer break advocating for his students! Mark joined 300 other music teachers from across the U.S. last week on Capitol Hill to advocate for the funding of music education in public schools.
"This was a wonderful opportunity to advocate on behalf of music teachers across the state and the first of many Hill Days I plan to attend," Mark said.
