Last Friday, many of our DREAMS Club members were able to deliver our donation drive items to the Portage Community Center! As a school community, we donated more than 5,000 items to stock the shelves! Ms. Ha's & Mrs. Hively's 1st hour/Career Explorers have earned a free gym day while Mr. Bailey and Mr. Messenger flip pancakes for them! The following 1st hour classes averaged more than 10 points donated per student & earned a free first hour on a day of the teacher's choice: * Mrs. McDaniel * Mr. Kozian * Mrs. Sturdy * Ms. Gale * Mrs. Hopson * Mr. Galer Special shout out to Mr. Kozian's class for the most total items donated by one class! On May 4th, our Science Olympiad team competed at the State Tournament at Western Michigan University. We were surprised to discover 2 of our team members were on the cover of the State Tournament program! The picture was taken at the Regional Competition. Although many of our veteran team members were unable to compete due to the Mackinaw Island band trip, our remaining team members did amazingly well! We had several teams place in the top ten for different competitions! This is great, especially since we had so many 6th graders and first timers on the team! WELCOME BACK PIONEERS! Our DREAMS Club Portage Community Center Donation Drive has been extended through this week, May 13 - May 17! We are accepting donations before school all week and at tomorrow's Jazz Band concert. PCC is directly assisting families in need right now and have requested the following donations: Non-perishable food Seasonal clothing Toilet paper Personal care items Cash to purchase other items in high need Donations are needed now more than ever!
