Central Middle School made the holidays brighter for some students through the Elf Project.
The generous donations from our community partners made it all possible. Thank you to Blue Ox Credit Union, Honor Credit Union, First National Bank, Kwong Orthodontics, Harding’s, Snook Building Solutions and Jersey Giant.

Students at Angling Road Elementary had their very own Roman toga party, complete with grapes and figs as snacks. What a fun lesson to make history come alive!


While holiday break is quickly approaching, the Continuous Improvement work is ongoing at buildings across the District.
Teams of building leadership are meeting with District administrators to discuss Continuous Improvement efforts to create the best learning environment for our students.

At Central Elementary, students get extra reading support from Grandma Peer who has three grandchildren in the building.

Students in Spanish class at Portage Northern High replicated famous architecture from Latin America using candy, frosting and other edible treats.









Mazie at Portage Central Elementary was busy last week learning to spell her name. Great job, Mazie!


Will your children outgrow their shoes and get new ones for the holidays? You can help Portage West Middle School by donating your gently used or new shoes to the shoe drive.
The school is hosting a drive-thru, drop-off event Tuesday, Jan. 2. from 3-6 p.m. at the middle school, 7145 Moorsbridge Rd.


The Student Vendor Fair at Portage Northern High School included student-made crafts such as ornaments, keychains, bracelets, crocheted items and more.

The first teacher in the PPS pipeline is graduating and will become a full-time teacher at Portage Northern High School.
With the help of the District’s teacher pipeline program, Austin Giles began an accelerated teaching program while also working as a part-time substitute teacher and paraprofessional at Portage Northern High School. He worked under his mentor teacher Laurie Kuiper (pictured with Austin).
Thanks in part to the PPS “Grow Our Own,” program, Austin will graduate this weekend with a master’s degree in special education from Western Michigan University and begin teaching full-time at Northern High.

As part of a history lesson at West Middle School, students role played as delegates from the original 13 colonies. They debated proposals related to The Stamp Act 1765 using colonial parliamentary rules.
