Doggone It..this is going to be ruff.
Hobbs the PN Huskie is retiring.
Hobbs joined us at Portage Northern in 2020 from Paws with a Cause. He was the first SEL comfort dog in our district and has paved the way for so many other dogs to join our PPS family.
We have seen firsthand the undeniable effectiveness Hobbs has had in the PACKstrong culture here at PN. He has been the best fur-end our Huskies could have asked for…even with the (slightly more than) occasional shenanigans and meal theft.
Please join us in wishing Hobbs a happy retirement! We will host Hobbs’ Retirement Paw-ty on Friday, September 20. Much like his birthdays at PN, students and staff are invited to stop by the Upper Commons for a hug and/or photo op-paw-tunity with Hobbs during passing times and lunches.
All dog puns aside, while it may not have looked like it, Hobbs has been working 5 days a week for (roughly) 180 days per year since 2020 and he has loved every minute of it. He has a lot of life yet to live…and he has certainly earned his days of leisurely walks and sleeping on the couch whenever and for as long as he wants.
While we are sad to see him go, we are fur-tunate to have had these last 4 years with him. Like the rest of us, Hobbs is definitely a #huskieforlife.
We have already begun the process of seeking Hobbs’ successor but there is a waiting list so it will take some time. If you are interested in donating to our SEL Dog Fund, please click the Information tab on the website and scroll to the bottom to “Support our Comfort Dog”.
What is next on Hobbs’ agenda? Anything is paw-sible.

It's a Great Night to Be a Huskie! Great night with the marching band, football team, songleaders, cheerleaders, Dog Pound and the rest of the fans! #packstrong
