Yesterday, Author Katherine Cowley came in and spoke to Mrs. Hively's and Mrs. Howe's ELA classes. She connected her craft/medium of writing and tied it into Misty Copeland's medium of dance. 6th grade students read "Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina" by Misty Copeland this year. Yesterday, our Bridge Builders group welcomed guest speaker Phil Hamilton, a lawyer in the Portage area. Today, our 8th Grade ELA Extension Group presented their final projects based on the novel "Watership Down." This voluntary, non-graded opportunity was made available to any 8th grade student that was interested during their XTS period. Final products included illustrations, original compositions, compare/contrast boards, children's books, poems, and more! The students were pleased to present their projects to invited guests from within the building and around the district, including Superintendent Mark Bielang!
