On May 4th, our Science Olympiad team competed at the State Tournament at Western Michigan University. We were surprised to discover 2 of our team members were on the cover of the State Tournament program! The picture was taken at the Regional Competition. Although many of our veteran team members were unable to compete due to the Mackinaw Island band trip, our remaining team members did amazingly well!
We had several teams place in the top ten for different competitions! This is great, especially since we had so many 6th graders and first timers on the team!
Congratulations students, coaches, and parents on a fantastic season!

Our DREAMS Club Portage Community Center Donation Drive has been extended through this week, May 13 - May 17! We are accepting donations before school all week and at tomorrow's Jazz Band concert.
PCC is directly assisting families in need right now and have requested the following donations:
Non-perishable food
Seasonal clothing
Toilet paper
Personal care items
Cash to purchase other items in high need

PPS will be closed on Friday, May 10, 2024 to allow crews more time to restore important services to our buildings. This includes Curious Kids and Prime Time. Thank you for your patience. Please continue to be safe.
Portage Public Schools will be closed tomorrow Thursday May 9th to allow for continued recovery from the storm and tornadoes. IB and AP students will receive separate communication about exam schedules.

April is #PoetryMonth & April 22nd was #EarthDay. Last week, Mrs. Cote taught some classes about Earth Day and how we can make a difference! She also taught them about concrete and shape poetry.
Students then had the opportunity to write their own poems!

March Book Madness bracket results are in!
GROUND ZERO by Alan Gratz beat out 15 other titles to be named the 2024 book champion by both WMS readers & readers from around the world!
We hope that students and staff had fun reading and discussing books both known & new and that all will continue reading these great books and others throughout the spring and into the summer!
