One of our favorite times of year! Our 6th grade literacy classes are coming to a close for the quarter/semester and public products are being presented.

Today half of our Science and ELA Literacy classes presented their 1st grade friends from Moorsbridge with books they've created over the past semester. The students were able to read the books, talk about the content, and enjoy conversation with their buddies.

Today 7th & 8th Grade students in Mrs. Schnurstein's Healthy Living classes participated in an activity led by Arbor Financial Credit Union titled "Money Masters." Students were given fictional careers with salaries and were tasked with budgeting their funds through different needs and wants.

Thank you to our parents and Arbor Financial volunteers for making this an unforgettable life simulation for our Pioneers. Some tough decisions were made, including choosing between personal fashion, buying toys, and paying for fun activities! Great lessons for our scholars.

Yesterday, our 6th grade teams participated in another West Way Wednesday! The teams participated in a "Holiday Helpers Design Studio: A creative winter challenge for teamwork and problem solving." Students had the goals of 1) working together to design something that helps others and/or brings joy, 2) practice planning, organizing, and flexible thinking, and 3) reflect on how creative and teamwork make a difference.

Here are a few pictures of the students collectively inventing "a game that brings people together." They followed the Design Thinking Steps of Empathize, Brainstorm, Prototype, and Test & Share.

Way to go 6th grade!
