Yesterday, our 6th grade teams participated in another West Way Wednesday! The teams participated in a "Holiday Helpers Design Studio: A creative winter challenge for teamwork and problem solving." Students had the goals of 1) working together to design something that helps others and/or brings joy, 2) practice planning, organizing, and flexible thinking, and 3) reflect on how creative and teamwork make a difference.

Here are a few pictures of the students collectively inventing "a game that brings people together." They followed the Design Thinking Steps of Empathize, Brainstorm, Prototype, and Test & Share.

Congratulations to Portage West 6th grader Cameron Brege for earning 2nd place for the 6th - 8th grade division at the Western Michigan University Engineering Innovation Expo last Friday for their Stitch Caddy 3000! Cameron and his partner, Lydia (homeschooled), also won the popular vote for their invention in the 6th - 8th grade division!
