This week's spotlight is with one of GSRP Four Year Old Preschool Classrooms! This week highlights their rest time routines as a way to recharge and reset their bodies to be ready to take on the learning in the afternoon, engaging in fine motor acticites with playdough and letter recognition, showcasing our hallway artwork as part of our Pet Curriculm Unit, practicing our learner behaviors with independence of taking care of out items in the hallway and enjoying a sensory table together. Its a great day to be in GSRP!

Reminder for Picture Retakes on November 20.
Our Portage Community Center Food Drive at Early Childhood was a success! It was important to have our Mixed Age Class help with the sorting and loading this year, as they are Portage Public Schools’ youngest learners. Thank you to the whole community—families, parents, children, and guardians—for your generous donations. A special thank you as well to our parent volunteer for helping with all the sorting and delivery.

This week's spotlight is going to our Head Start program from KRESA that is a part of our Early Chiildhood Family! These wonderful students enjoyed the seeing eye activity together, with smiles, curiosity and lots of giggles. It is always fun to use our creativity together in this classroom!

Last Friday, our Early Childhood Teachers engaged in Professional Development together to help with planning for next steps in curriculm, data review to drive next steps in the learning progression, and assessment training with our partners at KRESA. This was a wonderful day of rich learning!

This Bond will have NO INCREASE on the current millage rate, but will allow the replacement of both Amberly & Angling Road Elementary schools, renovate Moorsbridge Elementary, and find a new home for both Community High School and Early Childhood Programming. Our next Early Childhood Spotlight goes to our ECSE Intervention Program! We are having a wonderful time this week enjoying the sunshining and out outdoor time together. We also had the opportunity to go to a 'pumpkin patch' with our friends and explore our senses, while offering a wagon ride upon request. Early childhood is such a great time!

Need food? Delivery or pick up options available.
We loved having the Portage Fire Department and Portage Police Department here today to bring awareness to Fire Safety Month, as well as a chance to connect with community helpers and check out all the insides of a fire truck and a police car. The kids did an excellent job at asking questions, taking turns and most importantly understanding how we can trust our community helpers in the event of an emergency in our community.
