The Board of Education will review candidates for a new superintendent at Portage Public Schools at a special meeting Wednesday, May 7. At this meeting, the Board will meet in closed session as allowed under the Open Meetings Act to review the candidate applications. Following the closed session, the Board will -- in open session -- select and name the candidates to advance in the search process. To read more about the process, visit portageps.org/news.

On Monday Aqua-Tots gave a presentation about the ABC's of Water Safety to our 4 year old classrooms. Coach Tylor and Miss Jolene discussed the importance of always having a trusted Adult nearby, watching out for Barriers and how swim Classes can help make you a safe and confidant swimmer. The students enjoyed this learning opportunity! Thank you Coach Tylor and Miss Jolene for teaching us to be safe swimmers!

Bright Beacon, Room 114, also celebrated Tasty Tuesday (during small group) by making rainbow toast with milk paint made of food coloring and milk. First they painted on the toast, then put it in the toaster, and lastly enjoyed their fun artsy treat! There were lots of thumbs up for this activity as the students seemed to approve the taste!!!

Yesterday for "Tasty Tuesday" Room 117 ate dirt. Dirt pudding that is, complete with gummy worms. The families signed up to bring in the ingredients, the students assembled them and then they enjoyed eating their treat!

For "Week of the Young Child", today is "Tasty Tuesday". Bright Beacon, Room 112, made rainbow toast by painting their bread with colored milk. They loved the process, but enjoyed eating it even more!

We are celebrating the "Week of the Young Child" with NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). This is our youngest learner here at CK! Not all superheroes wear capes and save lives. Our pint size superhero wears a mask and her superpowers are utilizing her pacifier, trying her hardest to walk, bringing sunshine on dreary days and not understanding the word "caution". It would not be surprising, 20 years from now, to discover that she is her generation's Evel Knievel. If this prediction turns out to be true, it is a guarantee that her older brothers will be on the sidelines cheering her on!
