What a great first week here with our Early Childhood Programming! Our youngest learners have started out with learning classroom routines, building routines, making connections with their school family and most important enjoying their day with learning! We highlight the Mixed Age Preschool today with their first week back to school!

A huge THANK YOU to all of our families, parents and caregivers that attended our Open House this week! It was so wonderful to see all of our returning students and meet some of our new students for this school year as well! A special Thank you to Sean McDonald the Director of Transportation for coming over with a bus for tours! Thank you to the YMCA for attending and helping families with before and after school registration. Also Thank you to Officer Fisher from the Portage Police Department for attending and meeting all of our families!

Important Reminder:

Our last week for Mixed Age Summer Camp! The bug and insect unit was enjoyed by all, along with lots of outdoor gross motor play, and an introduction into the Dinosaur unit. What a wonderful summer had by all of these friends!










For our currently enrolled families in our Mixed Age, Three Year Old Preschool and Four Year Old Preschool Programs for the 2025-2026 School Year, check this out and save the date! Mailings went out today as well to all families and caregivers.

Summer Camp for Mixed Age friends is in full action! Water day, the "bugs" curriculum unit, gross motor obstacle courses and fine motor activities galore!










Mixed Age Summer Camp enjoyed the ocean themed week with all of the sensory opportunities at their finger tips!










A partial calendar for the 2025-26 school year was approved by the Board of Education Monday, July 21.
A complete 2025-26 school year calendar is not yet available due to ongoing contract negotiations with the Portage Education Association. The partial calendar covers August and September, and the District will also follow the Kalamazoo RESA Common Calendar for major school holiday breaks.
A monthly District calendar will be established and affirmed by the Board until a complete school year calendar is approved between the Board and the PEA. You can view the School Year Calendar at portageps.org/o/pps/page/school-year-calendar.
