Congratulations to our WMS volleyball teams for a STRONG showing at this weekend's A Team Volleyball tournament! Our 8th grade team went 8 and 2 with a loss in the semis. Special shout out to this group of young ladies that went undefeated during the regular season for their 7th & 8th grade years! Good luck at the next level!

Huge shout-out to our 7th grade team for bringing home the 2nd place trophy! They played their hearts out and made it all the way to the championship! Can't wait for next year!

What a day at West! Our 3 on 3 Basketball tournament came to a conclusion today with a school wide Pep Assembly, some high energy from a cheerleaders, and 2 special guests! Before the big game tomorrow, the mascots from Central and Northern came to help pump up the crowd! Between the games and cheers, Mustang and Husky had a brief shooting contest where Mustang prevailed!

They were great sports and even took a picture with all of our 3 on 3 tournament participants. Congratulations to all the teams especially our winners, Swish Fish!

Thursday is PINK OUT for WMS Spirit Week. Wear all of your pink clothing and accessories! This spirit day is to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month along with our Volleyball program. After school, the 8th grade team is sponsoring a Pink Out with their opponent, Mattawan Middle School. Donations will be accepted at the game for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

After weeks of uncertainty, we are pleased to announce that school breakfast and lunch will be FREE for all students for the 2025-2026 school year.

The state's budget, including the funding for meals, was passed by the State Legislature last week and will be signed by the Governor.

We know that students learn better when they have a nutritious breakfast and lunch. Like you, we are relieved that the funding to continue meals for the entire school year is now available so all students can benefit.

If you took the time to fill out the Federal Meal Benefits Application, thank you. These applications trigger other funding sources for the District, so your efforts will have a positive impact.

Families who deposited money into their child's account and would like a refund are asked to please email Susan Livingston, Food Service Director, at slivingston@portageps.org. Please include your name, your child's name, the amount you'd like refunded and a mailing address for her to send a check. Please allow for up to 30 days for the refund to be processed, and do not dispute the charge on your card as that will delay the refund process.
